PrestaShop structured data: why Google does not show the price and stars
PrestaShop structured data is a description of the product in the page code: name, price, availability and ratings. Google does not show the price and stars when this data is missing, contradictory, or when the ratings do not meet its rules. The most common case is two Product blocks with different prices. Even correct data does not guarantee a rich result, though.

What does Google look for on a product page?
A Product block with an offer or a rating. An offer is the price, currency and availability. A rating is the average of the reviews and their number. Without any of these elements Search Console reports an error, and neither the price nor the stars will appear.
Google lists the required and recommended fields in its guide to Product structured data and in its guide to merchant listings. The rules for ratings are in the guide on review snippets. You will find the full list of Product properties on schema.org.
What does the symptom you see mean?
From the symptom you can usually guess the cause before you look at the code.
| Symptom | Most common cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| No price in the results, the test shows Product without an offer | the theme or a module does not send the price | check the product page template and the module settings |
| Price in Google differs from the store | two Product blocks with different prices, e.g. excl. and incl. tax | keep one data source |
| Stars disappeared after an update | the reviews module changed how it sends ratings, or is disabled | check the reviews module and the test result |
| Warnings about GTIN, SKU, brand | empty recommended fields | fill in the data if you have it |
| Syntax error in the test | a block broken after a template edit | restore the previous version of the file |
| Data correct, but no rich result | Google's decision | do not force changes, keep watching |
Search Console warnings and what they mean for PrestaShop are described by nexis.pl. PrestaDev writes about contradictory data sources and combinations (both in Polish).
How do you check structured data step by step?
Start with one product that sells well and has reviews.
- Paste its URL into the Rich Results Test. Note how many Product blocks the test sees and whether there are errors.
- Check a product with combinations separately. The price of the default variant may differ from the price in the data.
- Compare the price in the test with the price on the page. Pay attention to tax and currency.
- If there is more than one Product block, find out where each one comes from. Disable modules one by one on a test copy of the store, or look at the product page template.
- Keep one source: the theme or a module. Turn the other off in its settings or remove it from the template.
- In Search Console, open the products report and start validation after the fix.
Where do duplicate data blocks in a store come from?
From several parts of the store wanting to describe the same product. The theme sends product data by itself. The reviews module adds a block with the rating. An SEO module or a Google Shopping module adds yet another, often with the price excluding tax.
Each of them works correctly on its own. Together they create a page where Google sees two different prices for the same product. In that situation the search engine does not know which to trust and may show neither.
The second source of mismatch is combinations. The customer chooses a size or colour, the price on the page changes, and the structured data stays at the default variant's price. That is usually not an error. The problem appears when the price in the data matches no variant at all. This happens, for example, after a price change without clearing the cache. Then it is enough to clear the cache and check the page again.
What will the chat show after opening the product page?
You ask for a page check, and your chat (Claude or ChatGPT) opens it like a browser and reads the structured data blocks. It reports the block types, syntax errors, duplicates such as two Product blocks, and missing basic fields. It also shows which modules are hooked into the product page. This works in TellMyShop Free and does not replace Google's test.
You: Check the structured data on the Malmo Sofa product. Google stopped showing the price.
Your chat: The page has two Product blocks. The first comes from the theme and has the price €1,699.00 incl. tax. The second is added by the Google Shopping module and has the price €1,381.30 excl. tax. I suggest keeping the theme block and turning off the data in the module:
You turn off the structured data option in the module's configuration in the back office. After the change I'll check the page again.
old version: Product from the theme (€1,699.00) + Product from the module (€1,381.30)
new version: one Product block from the theme (€1,699.00 incl. tax, in stock)
When the duplicate block sits in a theme file, the chat can remove it in TellMyShop Pro. That needs the Theme switch. After installation it is off, and you turn it on in the module panel for 24 hours when the store has a database backup from the same day. Before saving a file the module makes a copy of it, and restoring the copy undoes the change. The content change history does not cover theme files.
The chat will not add ratings to products without reviews and will not promise a result with stars. You will find requests for both cases in the use cases check why Google stopped showing prices and stars and removing duplicate product information. How the switches work is described on the how it works page. You will find the full SEO checklist in the article PrestaShop SEO audit, and plans on the pricing page.
Questions and answers
Does correct structured data guarantee stars in Google?
No. Correct data is a condition, and Google makes the decision to show it. It takes into account, among other things, the query, the device and the quality of the page. You can pass the test with no errors and still get a plain result without ratings. So check whether the data is correct, not whether the stars are visible every day.
Do I need to fix warnings about a missing GTIN or SKU?
A warning does not block the result. A page can get a rich result despite missing recommended fields such as GTIN, SKU or brand. Fill them in if you have this data in your products, because it helps Google recognise the product. Fix errors, meaning missing required fields, first.
Why does my store have two product data blocks?
Most often one comes from the theme and the other from a module: reviews, an SEO pack or a Google Shopping module. Each of them wants to describe the product, so the page has two Product blocks. When they differ in price or availability, Google gets contradictory information. Keep one source.
Can stars be shown in Google without customer reviews?
No. Ratings in structured data must come from real reviews visible on the page, which is what Google requires. The chat helps check whether the reviews module sends ratings correctly and does not duplicate data from the theme. Collecting reviews from customers is the job of your reviews module and your customers.
Can removing a block from the theme be undone?
Yes. Before every theme file save the module makes a backup copy of the file, and restoring the copy brings back the file from before the change. This is a different route from the content change history, because it concerns files, not data in the database. Changes to theme files require TellMyShop Pro and the Theme switch. The switch lasts 24 hours and requires a database backup made the same day.
