PrestaShop delivery time on the product page: one text instead of hundreds of copies

You set delivery information on the PrestaShop product page in one place, not in every description. You enter the delivery time under Shop Parameters → Product Settings, short lines about delivery and returns in the reassurance block module, and you add your own line under the price in the theme. A change in one place applies to every product.

Where does the same paragraph in every description come from?

From good intentions. Someone wanted customers to see “dispatch within 24 h, returns within 14 days” next to the product, and added it to the description. Then to the next one. Then a wholesaler import brought new products without that paragraph, so someone added it again, worded slightly differently.

Thursday, 22:30. The carrier changed its collection time and “same-day dispatch” stopped being true. You open product 1, product 2, look for the paragraph in the editor, correct it. After forty products you remember the store has four hundred.

That evening has a simple cause: information shared by the whole store sits in a field that is separate for each product.

Where does PrestaShop let you enter text once for all products?

In three places. Each suits a different purpose.

PlaceWhat it showsWhere on the pageHow you change it
Delivery time in Product Settingsone sentence, separate for in-stock and made-to-orderunder the priceShop Parameters → Product Settings
Delivery time on the producta custom sentence for one product, takes priorityunder the priceproduct page, shipping section
Reassurance blocka few lines with icons: delivery, returns, paymentusually below the buy buttonreassurance block module settings
A line in the themeany short text, for example with a link to returnswherever you place it in the templatethe product page template file

The PrestaShop 8 product settings documentation describes the delivery time field. According to it, when the field is empty the feature is switched off. The reassurance block is the blockreassurance module, whose code and description are in the PrestaShop repository on GitHub.

Why put this close to the price? Baymard Institute has a separate guideline on where and how to display delivery information. A customer who doesn't know when the parcel will arrive goes looking for it in the terms and conditions, or in another store.

What does the page look like before and after?

The same product, the same content, a different place.

Before. Nothing under the price. At the end of a long description, below the dimensions and composition, a paragraph: “We ship within 24 h by courier. Returns within 14 days. Happy shopping.” On a phone, the customer has to scroll several screens to see it. In thirty products the paragraph still says “48 h”, because it comes from an old description template.

After. Under the price, one sentence from the settings: “Dispatched within 1 working day”. Below the buy button, three lines from the reassurance block: delivery, returns within 14 days, secure payment. The product description talks only about the product. When the delivery time changes, you correct one field.

The values in the example are illustrative. Enter the times and conditions you actually meet, because customers will check them after buying.

How to move delivery information into one place

In order, so the customer is never left without this information.

  1. Write down exactly what the customer should see: dispatch time, returns, and the free shipping threshold if you have one.
  2. Enter the delivery time under Shop Parameters → Product Settings, in every store language.
  3. Set a custom time on products you ship differently, for example made-to-order.
  4. Fill in the lines in the reassurance block, or add a line in the theme if you want to show returns.
  5. Check one product page on a computer and on a phone.
  6. Only now remove the old paragraph from the product descriptions.

Add the line to the theme in a child theme, so it doesn't disappear after an update. We cover what happens to changes in the parent theme in the post on how a theme update wiped out changes.

How to do it in a conversation with the chat, including tidying the descriptions

The most tedious part is step 6: finding the old paragraph in hundreds of descriptions, in different wordings, and removing it without touching the rest of the text. Your chat (Claude or ChatGPT) finds it by its content, not by an exact sentence.

You: Product descriptions contain a paragraph about shipping and returns. Remove it everywhere, because we've added the delivery time in the settings. Show me a sample first.

Your chat: I found a similar paragraph in 412 descriptions, in 3 wordings. A sample from one product:

I'm not changing the rest of the description. I'll split the work into batches of 50 products and show each one in a preview.

You: Fine, start with the first batch.

Your chat: The preview of batch 1 of 9 is ready. I'll save it after your ‘yes’.

Card status: waiting for your “yes”
change preview

old version: …100% cotton, wash at 30°C. We ship within 48 h by courier. Returns within 14 days. Happy shopping.

new version: …100% cotton, wash at 30°C.

Illustration: products, numbers and replies are examples.

In the morning, before the first orders come in, you write the request, read the batch preview and approve it. With a big job, the chat first checks whether it fits within the hourly limits set in the panel, and if not, suggests stages.

What you need in TellMyShop Pro:

  • Product descriptions belong to the Content and SEO area. It works as soon as the licence is activated, with no switch.
  • Reassurance block settings need the Modules switch, and a line in the theme needs the Theme switch. You turn both on in the module panel for 24 hours, and both need a database backup made the same day. A copy of the theme file is made before it is changed.
  • The general delivery time setting is a store setting the chat changes only with the Service switch, for 3 hours. It is usually quicker to enter it yourself in the admin.

In the free TellMyShop Free version, the chat finds products with a delivery paragraph in the description and shows how to tidy it, but saves nothing. Example requests: delivery and returns information under the price and rewriting descriptions in your brand's tone. We write more about what belongs on the product page in the post on the PrestaShop product page. Prices are on the pricing page.

Questions and answers

Where in PrestaShop do I set the delivery time for all products?

Under Shop Parameters → Product Settings there is a delivery time field for in-stock products and a separate one for products that can be ordered when out of stock. The text you enter there shows under the price on the product page. When the field is empty, the message isn't displayed.

Can I have a different delivery time for one product?

Yes. On the product page, in the shipping section, you choose the default delivery time, a custom one or none. Custom text takes priority over the general setting. It is useful for items shipped straight from the manufacturer or made to order.

What is the reassurance block in PrestaShop?

It is a module that shows a few short lines with icons, for example secure payment, dispatch within 24 hours, returns within 14 days. In the Classic theme it sits on the product page below the buy button. You change the texts and icons in the module settings, without editing files.

Does copying delivery text into product descriptions do any harm?

Mostly to you. When the carrier or the delivery time changes, you correct hundreds of descriptions and one always gets left with the old text. The same paragraph on every product page also adds repetitive content that says nothing about the product itself.

Will the chat remove the old delivery text from product descriptions?

Yes, in TellMyShop Pro, in batches of up to 50 products. Descriptions belong to the Content and SEO area, which works as soon as the licence is activated. You see each batch in a preview, and you can undo the whole operation from the change history.
