TellMyShop Free and Pro
| TellMyShop Free | TellMyShop Pro (with a licence) | |
|---|---|---|
| Claude reads your site and reviews it | yes | yes |
| Plan of fixes, "now → after" | yes | yes |
| Saving changes with a preview and your approval | no | yes |
| Change history and undo | nothing to undo | yes |
| Ready-made jobs | jobs labelled Free | all, Free and Pro |
| TellMyShop Consultant | no | yes |
In both versions customer data is locked by default. In the Pro version with a licence, Claude saves content and catalogue changes straight away, always after a preview and your "yes". Prices, the theme, plugins and technical work have separate switches.
TellMyShop Free
The Free version is a separate plugin, listed in your plugins as TellMyShop. You install it from the wordpress.org directory (once wordpress.org has accepted the plugin; until then, from your TellMyShop account). It has no licence key field and doesn't save changes, even if someone changes the settings. Jobs that only read work in full, for example Site review and improvement plan or Why is this page not visible. Jobs that change your site are labelled Pro: you can see them in the Ready-made jobs section on the Start tab, but they only work in the Pro version. For a plan of fixes for the whole site, use Site review and improvement plan.
Moving from Free to Pro
The Pro version is a separate plugin. You install it alongside the Free version, and it takes over the Free version's settings. You don't need to delete the Free version first.
- Buy a licence or change your plan in your TellMyShop account. The key arrives by email.
- In your account open Downloads and download the Pro version for WordPress.
- In your dashboard go to Plugins > Add New Plugin > Upload Plugin, choose the downloaded file and click Install Now. WordPress installs the Pro version as a new plugin.
- Click Activate Plugin. The Free version switches itself off, because the two versions can't run at the same time. Your settings from Areas, Customer data (GDPR) and Settings stay, along with your logs, redirects and the "Claude (TellMyShop)" account. The connector address stays the same too, so there's nothing to add again in Claude.
- Open TellMyShop > Start, paste the key into the Licence card and click Activate the licence.
- Claude saves content and catalogue changes straight away. In Claude, start a new chat so Claude sees what it can now do, and write: "Make the fixes from the plan". You can switch on prices, the theme or plugins in the Saving by area card when you need them.
Your plugin list then shows a message that TellMyShop has replaced the Free version, with a Go to Plugins link. You can now delete the Free version: Plugins > Inactive > Delete. Deleting the old copy doesn't touch your settings, logs or connection to Claude.
Deleting the plugin
When you delete your only copy of TellMyShop, it keeps your settings and change history by default. You choose this in TellMyShop > Settings, in the Data retention and uninstall card. The connector address and the database backups made by the plugin are always removed. If you need a backup, download it first in TellMyShop > Backups. After reinstalling, you create a new address and add it in Claude.
Full version without a key
If you install the Pro version and don't paste a key, it works like the Free version: Claude reads and plans, but saves nothing. The same happens when a licence expires or is withdrawn, for example after a refund. Nothing on your site breaks. Only the ability to save goes away.
