Install TellMyShop
You install TellMyShop like any other PrestaShop module. It takes about 15 minutes. At the end you have a connector address to paste into Claude.
After installation Claude can only read your shop. It can't change anything until you say so. That's on purpose: you look around first, then switch on changes.
What you need
- PrestaShop 8.1 or newer, up to 9.x.
- PHP 8.1 or newer. If you don't know your PHP version, ask your hosting company.
- A shop address that starts with
https://. - A Claude account. Any Claude account works, including a free one.
- Access to your shop's back office with the right to install modules.
You don't need a PrestaShop Account.
Which package to download
- TellMyShop (paid): download the ZIP from your account, Account > Downloads.
- TellMyShop Audit (free): download the ZIP from
tellmyshop.com/free-audit. Claude reads your shop and tells you what to fix, but this package can't change anything.
Both install the same way. To move from Audit to the paid version later, upload the paid ZIP over the free one. Your settings and history stay.
Step 1: Upload the module
- In the back office open Modules > Module Manager.
- Click Upload a module and drop the ZIP file.
- When you see "Module installed", click Configure.
In the module list the module is called TellMyShop. If the upload fails, see the FAQ.
Step 2: Create an account for Claude
Claude works in your shop as its own employee, with its own permissions. That way the shop's log shows exactly what Claude did, and Claude can't do more than you allow.
- On the TellMyShop settings screen, in the Start card, click Create Claude's account.
- The module creates a separate profile, Claude TellMyShop, and an employee called Claude TellMyShop (first name Claude, last name TellMyShop), and selects it straight away. Nobody can log in with this account, and it has only the permissions the switched-on areas need.
Prefer to do it by hand? Create a profile and an inactive employee under Advanced Parameters > Team, then choose that employee in the module settings. A SuperAdmin employee is not allowed.
Step 3: Create your connector address and switch the connector on
- In the Start card, at step Generate the connector address, click Generate token.
- Click Copy to copy the address. It looks like
https://yourshop.com/module/tellmyshop/mcp?token=…. - Keep it somewhere safe, like a password. It is shown only once. If you lose it, generate a new one; the old one stops working at once.
- Click Turn on the connector and test. All items should turn green.
Next: paste the address into Claude. See Connect to Claude.
Step 4 (optional): A second connector for technical work
Changes to the look of the shop, to modules and to the shop's files are risky, so they have their own service connector. It works only from approved internet addresses (Claude's by default) and only while you have one of these areas switched on. You need it only if you, or your developer, want Claude to do technical work.
In the Technical work (advanced) card:
- First click Generate emergency key and store the key outside the shop, for example in a password manager. With it you can bring files back even if the shop stops working.
- Click Generate service token to get the service connector address. It expires on its own after 30 days (you can set 7 to 90).
- Add it in Claude as a second, separate connector, for example "My shop (service)".
Skip this step if you only work on products, texts, prices and promotions.
Step 5: Start in read-only mode, then switch on changes
Right after installation the module is in read-only mode. Claude can read and report, but it can't save anything. Use this to get to know it.
Try, for example, the ready-made job Check my store and plan the fixes, or type:
Check my shop for SEO problems and tell me the five most urgent fixes.
When you are ready for Claude to make changes:
- In the Scope of work and permissions card, under Working mode, choose Read and change and click Save scope of work.
- Choose which areas Claude may change. Content and SEO is on. Sales (prices, promotions, shipping) is off until you turn it on. See What Claude can do for you.
Every time you loosen a safety setting, like this one, the shop owner gets an email. Even with read-only mode off, Claude shows you a preview of every change and saves only after you approve it.
Activate your licence
- Copy your licence key from the purchase email or Account > Licences.
- On the settings screen open the Licence card, paste the key and click Activate.
Without a valid key the paid package works like the free Audit: Claude can read and report, but not change anything. The free Audit package has no write functions at all; the panel and Claude tell you what a licence unlocks. Details: Licences.
Update or remove the module
- Update: upload the new ZIP in Module Manager, the same way as the first time. Settings, history and the connector in Claude stay.
- Remove: Module Manager > TellMyShop > Uninstall. Connector addresses stop working and Claude's employee account is removed. The change history, file backups, redirects and the licence are kept by default; to remove everything, untick Keep history, backups and redirects on uninstall in Settings: security, alerts, limits before you uninstall. Uninstalling does not release your licence domain: use Release domain in the Licence card first, or release it in your account. Changes you already approved stay in the shop.
Technical details
| Item | Requirement |
|---|---|
| PrestaShop | 8.1 or newer, up to 9.x (ps_versions_compliancy 8.1.0 – 9.99.99). Tested on 9.0.0 (PHP 8.4) and 9.2.0. 8.0, 1.7 and 1.6 not supported |
| PHP | 8.1 or newer, with the sodium extension (encryption, licence signature) and tokenizer (PHP syntax check). On older PHP the module refuses to install with a clear message |
| PrestaShop Account / Eventbus | Not needed |
| HTTPS | Valid public certificate. The endpoint refuses plain HTTP |
| Reachability | For Claude.ai the endpoint must be reachable from the internet: no basic auth in front of /module/tellmyshop/mcp, WAF must allow POST |
| Friendly URLs | Needed for URL changes; canonical redirect must be 301 |
| Optional modules | pagesnotfound for the 404 report; SmartBlog for the 5 blog tools; psgdpr so that GDPR erase/export covers TellMyShop history |
| Local copies | localhost or VPN copies work only with Claude Desktop (local configuration) or Claude Code, still over HTTPS |
| Outbound HTTPS | To https://tellmyshop.pl/api/v1 for licence activation and the daily refresh |
- Technical name
tellmyshop. Endpoint:https://your-shop.com/module/tellmyshop/mcp, token as?token=…orAuthorization: Bearer …. - Tokens: only a SHA-256 hash and a prefix are stored; the full token is shown once; a new token revokes the old one at once. The test token behind the connection test is valid 2 minutes. The service token expires after 30 days by default (7–90).
- Daily token: core, block 1 Content & SEO, block 2 Commerce. Service token: additionally blocks 3–5, only from IPs on its allowlist (default
160.79.104.0/21) and only while one of blocks 3–5 is on. - Default state after install: connector off until step 3, read-only mode on, block 1 on (without the Customer service group), Commerce off, blocks 3–5 off, customer data access off, email alerts and daily summary on.
- The employee created in step 2 is inactive; permissions per back-office tab are granted when a group or block is switched on and removed when it is switched off.
- Install registers the hooks
registerGDPRConsent, actionDeleteGDPRCustomer, actionExportGDPRData(psgdpr) andactionFrontControllerInitBefore(redirects and blog 301s). It creates a private directoryvar/tellmyshop/for backups and keys; the encryption key isvar/tellmyshop/keys/history.key. The employee and profile are created later, by the Create Claude's account button. - Uninstall always removes the tokens and signing key, the employee and profile the module created, the rescue script and its key, and the connection log. With
TELLMYSHOP_KEEP_ON_UNINSTALLon (default) it keeps the change history, file backups, redirects, the audit log, the private directory with the key, the licence and other settings; with it off it drops all module tables, allTELLMYSHOP_*settings andvar/tellmyshop/. Uninstall does not call the licence server, so the domain stays activated until it is released in the Licence card or in the account. - Full detail: Technical specification.
