Install the plugin
TellMyShop Free and the paid TellMyShop Pro are two separate plugins. Both are called TellMyShop in your plugin list.
TellMyShop Free
You install the Free version from the wordpress.org directory (once wordpress.org has accepted the plugin; until then, from your TellMyShop account, the same way as the Pro version below).
- Find the plugin. In your WordPress dashboard go to Plugins > Add New Plugin and type "TellMyShop" in the search field.
- Install it. Next to TellMyShop, click Install Now.
- Activate it. Click Activate. TellMyShop appears in the menu on the left.
Free version updates come from wordpress.org, like any other plugin from the directory.
TellMyShop Pro
You download the Pro version only from your TellMyShop account.
- Download the plugin. Sign in to your TellMyShop account with the link from your email and open Downloads. Choose the Pro version for WordPress. Don't unzip the ZIP file.
- Upload it to your site. In your WordPress dashboard go to Plugins > Add New Plugin, click Upload Plugin, choose the ZIP file and click Install Now.
- Activate it. Click Activate Plugin. TellMyShop appears in the menu on the left.
Full-version updates come from tellmyshop.pl and show up in the usual place: Dashboard > Updates and your plugin list. You need an active licence update period for them.
Already using the Free version? Follow the same three steps. The Pro version installs alongside it, and the Free version switches itself off when you activate the Pro version. Your settings stay. The details are on the Free and Pro page.
After installing
That's it. Now open TellMyShop > Start. In the Pro version you'll see the Licence card at the top: paste your key. In the Free version there's no key to enter, so you go straight to connecting your site to Claude.
What's set up for you
- In the Pro version Claude reads your whole site. It sees posts, pages, products, settings, plugins and logs straight away. It doesn't see the things that are always blocked (below) or customer data. The Free version reads your site for reviews and reports, and saves nothing.
- With a licence, Claude saves content, SEO and catalogue changes straight away. It shows every change in a preview first and saves it only after your "yes" in the chat.
- Prices, the theme, plugins and technical work are off. You turn on saving in these areas separately in the Saving by area card (the Areas tab): Commerce (WooCommerce only) stays on until you switch it off, Theme and Plugins for 24 hours, Service for 3 hours. After that the switch turns itself off. The switches only cover saving: Claude can read without them.
- Some things are always blocked, whatever the switches say: passwords, administrator accounts and roles, API keys, payment data and settings, taxes, wp-config.php, the TellMyShop plugin itself, its data and backups. On orders Claude can only add a private note; it doesn't change their status.
- The connector switches itself on when you create the address in the Start tab. In the Pro version the plugin also makes the first database backup then.
- Claude can't see customer data: orders, addresses, emails. You can change this in the Customer data (GDPR) tab.
The TellMyShop panel has these tabs: Start, Areas, Customer data (GDPR), Settings and Connection log. The Pro version also has Change history and Backups. The ready-made jobs are at the bottom of the Start tab, in the collapsed Ready-made jobs section.
Next step: Paste your licence key (Pro) or connect your site to Claude (Free)
