Connect your shop to Claude or ChatGPT

In your PrestaShop admin open Modules > TellMyShop > Configure and go to the Start card. The Set up in 3 steps list takes you through it in order and ticks off what's done. You only do this once, and it takes a few minutes.

1. Create the connector address

Click Create the address and turn on the connector. This one button does everything needed on the shop's side:

  • it creates a separate "Claude TellMyShop" account that nobody can log in to (don't delete it or change its profile),
  • it creates a private connector address,
  • it turns the connector on,
  • it makes a backup of your shop's database.

The address appears in a yellow frame. Click Copy. You'll only see the full address once, right after it's created, so paste it into your chat app straight away or keep it somewhere safe, e.g. in a password manager. Treat it like a password: don't email it or paste it in forums. If you lose it, click Generate a new token and the old address stops working.

If you like, click Test the connection again. The module sends your shop the same request your chat app sends and shows the result. All items should be green.

2. Add your shop in your chat app

Pick the app you use: Claude or ChatGPT. You can also add your shop in both.

Claude in the browser (claude.ai)

  1. Open Settings > Connectors.
  2. Click Add custom connector.
  3. Give it a name, e.g. "My shop", paste the address and save.

Any Claude account works, including the free one.

Claude desktop app (Windows, Mac)

A connector you add in the browser appears in the app automatically once you're signed in to the same account. If you don't see it, add it the same way under Settings > Connectors in the app.

Claude on your phone

You don't add connectors on your phone. Add it once in the browser and the phone app will use it on the same account.

ChatGPT

  1. Open Settings > Apps & Connectors > Advanced and turn on Developer mode.
  2. Click Create.
  3. Give the connector a name, e.g. "My shop", paste the address and save. If ChatGPT asks how to sign in (authentication), choose none: the address from the module is what gives access.

A free ChatGPT account works too.

3. Start the first conversation

Start a new chat and switch on the "My shop" connector in it:

  • in Claude in the chat's tools menu,
  • in ChatGPT through + > More > Developer mode, then pick "My shop".

Step 3 in the Start card has a ready start text. Click Copy next to it and paste it into the chat:

I connected my shop with TellMyShop. Start with the first conversation: introduce yourself briefly, review the shop and tell me what to fix first.

The assistant gets to know your shop and tells you where to start. Once the chat connects, steps 2 and 3 in the module get a ✓ with the connection date.

If it won't connect

The most common causes and fixes are on When something doesn't work.

Technical details

The address looks like https://your-shop.com/module/tellmyshop/mcp?token=…. Only a hash of the token is stored in the shop's database. The connection works only over HTTPS, with a default limit of 300 actions, 150 saves and 20 file saves per hour (you can change it in the Settings: security, alerts, limits card). Everything goes through one address, including the theme, modules and technical work once you turn on saving for them in the Writing in areas card. You can set a list of allowed IP addresses in the Settings: security, alerts, limits card, but it isn't required. The button next to the list adds the addresses Claude connects from. If you use ChatGPT, leave the list empty: OpenAI doesn't publish fixed addresses, so the shop would refuse its connections. Database backups (the latest 2, encrypted) are kept on your shop's server. You can download them in the Writing in areas card, under Database backups, together with restore instructions. More: Security.
